| | Alternative 2: Stay with the Status Quo - NGO's
The NGOs, like the Government collect millions of dollars in cash, food, clothing and other donations every year to help the dispossessed in the Greater Toronto Area. Like the Government, millions of dollars are allocated each year to care for the needs of the homeless by providing housing, food and clothing. However, neither of these solutions addresses the underlying cause that has made these people dependent on the system. in any business, The solution provided by both the Government and the NGOs have passed the point in the business cycle where they can have any effect on this problem.
As an analogy, the NGOs have passed their peak and this level of the cycle indicates that the ideas are either obsolete or having a negative effects on the problem. They either need to implement new ideas or be replaced by thoughtful objective organizations that can solve the problem. Organizations that can train prepare and equip these individuals with skills necessary to help them reintegrate the society with dignity.
These organizations can place them in appropriate jobs where they can make income to take care of their basic needs. Along with government programs such as low-income housing, this new organization can help reduce and eradicate this problem through apratical process. This Organization will not only reduce the number of homeless people, but reverse the flow from society-shelter to shelter-society. This organization can help the Government and taxpayers save money that can be channeled into other projects. |  |
