| | Assessment, Skills Evaluation and Training The most easily implemented solution is the cleaning of buildings and other edifices, parks and highways around the city. - (1) The first step will be to recruit approximately 500 participants from the homeless population;
- (2) From these recruits, we will be able to retain approximately 150 – 200 individuals for this project;
- (3) The next step would be to conduct a psychological assessment and personality profile test of these individuals to determine their mental capacity to participate in this project;
- (4) The selected individuals will then undergo a Criminal Background Check. After they pass the qualifying procedures, they will then participate in a 2-3 week Cleaning and Maintenance Training program in partnership with the Ministry of Community and Social Services to train these individuals to become skilled labourers. Each participant will receive a copy of the Cleaning and Maintenance manual that will prepare them to take the Cleaning and Maintenance Certification examination and receive their certificate. In order for them to participate more effectively in the training, we will work with the Ministry to provide an additional incentive such as an increase in their monthly subsidy while participating in the training. Further training would enable these individuals to develop their own business plans to become entrepreneurs.
- (5) We will also work with the low-income single parent to help them to build confidence and skills to re-enter the workforce;
- (6) We will also work with the newcomers to assist them and prepare them for employment in Canada;
- (7) We will partner with the Police Services and Ministry of Community and Social Services to help those individuals who have been recently release from a correctional facility and train them for employment;
- (8) We will also partner with the Ministry of Culture to promote the homeless theatre initiative.
As part of the study program, the training focuses on three principal levels, (1) assimilate the trainee with the organizational culture, (2) provide professional know-how in cleaning, mechanization, machinery and products, (3) develop behavioral skills in relevant areas such as improving service levels, management skills and inter-personal communication. Ontario Small Hand™ will have fully-equipped training classes and a presentation room for all cleaning products, including machines and surfaces for cleaning, to enable the trainees to gain practical hands-on experience. The training will provide technical information and demonstrations on the proper procedures, chemicals and equipment needed to identify, clean and maintain Government edifices. The training will focus on various types of chemicals used in health care, food service and industrial properties, as well as specialty chemicals used in computer rooms, clean rooms and laboratories. | |
